Animal ID: 17-08-08-00169Fluffy (male)

Himalayan Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Fluffy was part of an outdoor cat colony in Waukegan IL. He was always a super chill, aloof male who allowed his caretaker to pet him, so he was a good candidate for socializing and finding a home. He is about 2 years old and was taken inside in early May 2017.Fluffy is great with other cats, and can get accustomed to a respectful dog. He lives with a bulldog in his foster home. He's ok with young children, but is more apt to run away when they come around. Once he bonds with his new owner, they will have a hard time keeping him out of their laps, especially if other cats try to sit there too. He really has a big personality to go with his ...     Satin is a short-haired spayed black female kitten born about to a stray momcat about April 4. She and her sibling (Chenille, Poppy and Smidge) have been fostered in homes with dogs and kids. Satin is a confident, playful kitten that enjoys new toys. She appears meek in her photo but she is very outgoing. In her foster home, she is a vocal lap cat. Her name perfectly describes her sleek, soft black coat. She will probably be able to adapt to most loving homes. She would love to be adopted with a sibling or as a little sister. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Trevie (about 4 months old as of 7/12) is a neutered male brown tabby tuxedo shorthaired kitten. Trevie was born to a feral cat in Waukegan but was rescued as a baby and raised in foster care. Trevie was always the bravest, most curious, most cuddly and most outgoing kitten in his litter. He's strong and smart and loves to explore and make new friends. With his shining personality we thought he'd be the first kitten in his litter to get adopted, but unfortunately all his littermates were rare blue eyed Siamese mixes and poor Trevie kept getting passed up for his more common but none the less adorable looks. Trevie is fabulous at making ... Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Savannah (about 14 weeks as of 6/25) is a spayed female black shorthaired kitten. She was rescued from the streets of Waukegan at a young age and raised in foster care. Savannah is smart and silly, always coming up with fun new games for her and her kitten friends to play. She is curious and a little more independent. She loves to be petted and has the loudest purr, but generally she squirms when you hold her and prefers to tackle life on her own 4 feet.     Sparky (5-6 years old as of March, 2017) is a neutered male brown tabby shorthaired cat. Sparky was neutered as a stray kitten in 2011 and returned to his cat colony. He formed a bond with his caretaker and began to live as an indoor/outdoor cat. Sadly this arrangement ended when his caretaker passed away recently so we are looking for a new indoor home for Sparky.     Squeaky (8-10 years old as of January, 2017) is a neutered male black short-haired cat. 'Squeaky' got his name from his very distinct and frequent meow, which is not actually high pitched or squeaky but a deep soulful yowl. Squeaky was found as a friendly adult stray back in 2011 when he was thought to already be a few years old and was taken in as an indoor outdoor cat by his caretaker after going through our trap neuter return program. He would stroll in and visit the service department. They posted him on Lost Cats websites but no one claimed him so Spay and Stay stepped in to help him. He calmed down once he was neutered and now cuddles and plays constantly with his little foster buddy Ridge (who also needs a home.) Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Genevieve (about 2 and a half years old as of July, 2016) is a spayed female tortoiseshell shorthaired cat. Genevieve was found outside as a ridiculously friendly and outgoing stray. We can only guess at her age and background, but because she was so petite and still so playful we think she was just under 1 year old when we found her and she's still like a big kitten! We also suspect she was raised from very early on as an only cat because she is so open and loving with all people but so terrible at social interactions with most other cats. Although she has adapted to life in a foster home with lots of other cats she often gets upset just by ... (Read More)the sight of other cats and sometimes throws tantrums around them. When she does try to make friends she just sneaks up on them and tries to play, roughly, like she never learned the right way to go about it from a mother cat and littermates. She even plays a little too rough with people so we wouldn't recommend her for a family with small children, but for the right family that likes to 'razzle' their cat and isn't phased by play bites she'll be tons of fun! If she's not playing she loves to be cradled like a baby and held or carried around for ages- she is a very attention seeking cat and will probably do best as a spoiled only cat or sharing the spotlight with just one or two other young, playful, and hopefully more submissive cats, like her shy foster friend Sunshine.     Raven (3-4 years old as of July, 2016) is a black long-haired spayed female that was rescued as part of a Beach Park trailer park trapping. She was one of 16 (some pregnant) cats that one resident had tried to take in to her small trailer. Raven had an emergency C-section because she was sick when we got her but her two kittens didn't survive, probably due to poor prenatal care. Due to the cramped and unstable conditions, we don't know that she ever got to live as a normal pet cat. From being in very poor shape in June 2016, she has blossomed into a beauty. (Read More)safe. His foster mom says he is very loving and seeks attention and is best buddies with Turbo as well as getting along well with other cats. (Less)

Animal ID: 16-10-27-00295Hook (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, FIV

Hook (about 3 years old as of November, 2016) is a neutered male grey shorthaired cat. Hook started showing up at a feral colony in Waukegan as a scared stray cat back in March of 2016. One day in May he came by to eat with a broken leg bent like a 'Hook' but avoided all efforts to trap him for 5 months. Finally just before the weather turned he was caught and turned out to be very sweet. Unfortunately his bent leg was entirely healed in place and the vet couldn't do anything to straighten it without causing him more pain, so now he just has one weird leg and walks a little funny with a short stride. He is happy to be an indoor cat ... (Read More)again and likes to sit up and beg for treats and be cuddled and petted. He gets along well with cats and kids, but we haven't seen how he handles living with dogs yet so we would recommend only a very calm, respectful dog for him. Hook has tested positive for antibodies to FIV, a slow acting virus that can cause mild to moderate immune impairment. It is contagious to other cats but only through deep bite wounds, something not likely to happen given a slow introduction, so we will be happy to adopt him to an FIV negative cat family as long as they will be cautious and patient integrating him to their home. Most cats with FIV live to be seniors and pass away from common old age conditions, so it doesn't mean he won't have a long, happy life! (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sweet William (about 6 1/2 months old as of 10/19/2016) is a neutered, male, black, short-haired kitten. William was born to a feral mother cat who had literally been dumping her kittens at one of our caretakers' house for years. They finally caught her but she was about to give birth, so these lucky kittens have been inside their whole lives. William is just a good natured, playful but cuddly kitten who seems to like everything. He usually starts purring as soon as his foster family pays any sort of attention to him. William does well with kids, gets along great with the other cats and kittens in his foster home, and although he hasn't had ... (Read More)much dog experience we think he is relaxed enough to live happily with a cat-friendly dog. He has a lot of energy and would do best with a playmate to wear him out like one of his siblings, Daisy, Johnny and Primrose. (Less)

Animal ID: 16-09-06-00624Daisy (female)

Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daisy (about 6 1/2 months old as of 10/19/2016) is a female black and white shorthaired kitten. Daisy was born to a feral mother cat who had literally been dumping her kittens at one of our caretakers' house for years. They finally caught her but she was about to give birth, so these lucky kittens have been inside their whole lives. Daisy is a very vocal kitty who likes to meow about things as she goes through her day and will sometimes call out to figure out where people are if she wanders off alone expecting someone to call back to her or come find her. That sounds awfully needy but she is actually the most independent kitty from her ... (Read More)litter. She is sweet and affectionate but doesn't want to cuddle until she is done playing and doesn't feel the need to be on top of someone smothering them every time she gets a few pets. That said, when she is in full cuddle mode she loves serious, firm pets so strong they pull the skin around her eyes back and exaggerate her already naturally silly long skinny face. She is very energetic and alert which can make her seem jumpy or skittish, but it's really just her goofy, playful nature showing. She does well with kids, gets along great with the other cats and kittens in her foster home, and although she hasn't had much dog experience we think she is relaxed enough to live happily with a cat-friendly dog. She has a lot of energy and would do best with a playmate to wear her out like one of her siblings. Daisy's siblings are William, Johnny and Primrose. (Less)

Johnny was born to a feral mother cat who had literally been dumping her kittens at one of our caretakers' house for years. They finally caught her but she was about to give birth, so these lucky kittens have been inside their whole lives. Johnny loves people and usually starts purring as soon as you look at him. Animal ID: 16-07-29-00334Dottie (female)

Siamese Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dottie (about 2 yrs old as of 07/2016) is a spayed, female, calico point, short-haired, Siamese mix cat. Dottie was rescued as part of our Beach Park trailer park trapping and was one of 16 or more cats one resident had tried to take into her small trailer. Due to the cramped and unstable conditions, we don't know that she ever got to live as a normal pet cat. That is probably why she is a little shy at first. She seems calm and confident even as she squirms to run and hide while we're carrying her around at Petco, and at home she is happy to be out and about. She doesn't like to be carried around but likes when you pet her, especially ... (Read More)around her ears. She's an especially good hunter of toys. She loves treats and will come running for them. Dottie is not picky about food and eats wet and dry. She has a very sweet nature and could probably be a lap cat given the chance. Obviously she has lived with other cats just fine. She is tolerant of the small dog living in her foster home. We think she'd do well with older children who could be quiet and gentle around her but she'd probably be too easily startled by hyper toddlers or preschoolers. (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, FIV

Elm (born August 2015) is a neutered, male, grey, short-haired cat. Elm and his family suddenly showed up last fall and completely overwhelmed one of our small managed cat colonies. Elm quickly grew from a very shy kitten to a cat who cries to be picked up and one who loves butt scratches! He gets along great with other cats and is used to a big dog and one big noisy bird! He will probably do better with at least one other young playful animal companion to keep him company. Elm tested positive for antibodies to FIV, a slow acting virus that can cause mild to moderate immune impairment. Our vet says he's a very healthy cat. FIV is contagious ... Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ellwood (about 1 yr old as of 07/2016) is a neutered, male, grey tuxedo, short-haired cat. Ellwood was caught during a mass trapping of more than 30 cats where 2/3 of the colony were kittens 4 months and younger. He was one of the oldest kittens caught and understandably he is still a little shy, especially with new people or places. Ellwood has become very sweet, he'll meow for attention, loves being pet, and will even get his purr going and roll over for belly rubs if you warm him up. He is still easily startled and will sometimes get spooked and run and hide for a minute to collect himself. He's getting braver every day though, and has ... (Read More)always had a soft spot for little kids who he lets do anything to him, even when a toddler made a game of dripping water on his head! He might never be a super outgoing cat with new people and places, but we know for his one special forever family he will be an AMAZING little buddy. Ellwood has been fostered with other cats, dogs of all sizes, and kids 2-11 years old, so he'd be great for just about any home that will continue to work with him to build his confidence. We think he'd do best with at least one other young playful animal to keep him company. He'll be happier with someone around 24/7 and he seems to have more confidence with a role model around to show him how to be brave. (Less)

Bandit (about 1 yr old as of 05/2016) is a neutered, male, black tuxedo, short-haired cat. Bandit was caught during a mass trapping of more than 30 cats where 2/3 of the colony were kittens 4 months and under. Bandit was one of the 4 month old kittens and was sent on his own to a foster home to be a companion to a lone 4 month old kitten from a different colony. It took him a while to really come out of his shell having had such a late start living with people, but today Bandit is one happy cat. He's not the cuddliest guy who will come force his way into your lap or smother you with affection, but he is very outgoing, loves to explore, and ... (Read More)always comes running for treats. Domestic Cat    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sunshine (5 yrs old as of 04/2016) is a spayed, female, orange and white, long-haired cat. Sunshine showed up in one of our feral colonies and had kittens before she could be trapped and fixed. When we caught her and her newborn kittens, we were amazed at how easy going she was with us as we checked out her kittens, and baffled when she let one of our volunteers shave off the matted parts of her thick fluffy coat, a grueling process that took 40 minutes and that most friendly cats wouldn't stay calm through. We now know that her subdued behavior was less because she was the best socialized cat in the world, and more because she is sweet and ... (Read More)incredibly submissive and puts up no resistance when she feels cornered. She has enjoyed being pet and brushed before but generally prefers to keep a slight distance and be admired from afar. Being such a delicate soul that takes a long time to trust and only comes out when it's quiet and peaceful, we think she would do best with a small family without noisy kids running around to overwhelm her. With other cats she generally keeps to herself and is non-confrontational but she has been known to hold her own, wrestling with her crazy little foster sister Genevieve, whom she loves dearly. Sunshine could be a good little sister to an older kitty that wants to be left alone or happily deal with a feisty kitten or anywhere in between. (Less)
